Watch a video about the recent tsunami in Japan and then another one about how to prepare for a hurricane. After that write a short article (min 200 words) on how to prepare for a natural disaster and what people could do in such situations.
The hurricanes are horrible and unexpected disasters, 30 years ago the people couldn't know if a hurricane was close for that reason they needed be prepare with important things such as lamps, radio, batteries, canned food etc. Nowadays the very, very easy know if a hurricane is to close so we can be preparing with the necessary stuffs.

Not only for hurricanes is important have caution also for disasters like twister and earthquake. For example the earthquake is a unexpected disaster however keep calm is the secret and have knowledge about what do during that.

Don´t wait until the natural disaster is occuring. These are some advices and procedures useful for you.
You must to have and Advance planning, including the sites of local shelters, consider of family members with special medical needs, to pick a place where meet in case that your family is separated, to define a friend out of town who call to tell that you are safe.
It is advisable for you to get a natural disaster insurance if you don´t already have it. Also, make sure that you know how to shut off electricity, gas and water to protect your home.
You should be sure that you have the following supplies on hand: Three days supply of water that provides one gallon per person per day; three days supply of non perishable food that doesn´t required cooking; a flash light and extra batteries; a battery powered radio to receive the news from the government; a first aid kit and seven days supply of medication.
You must to have a NOAA-entabled radio. If an natural disaster is expected, attend this warning on radio or television and take cautions, as put your refrigerator and freezer in the coldest setting, and fill your car´s gas tank in case to evacuate.
In case of hurricanes, join all the things that the wind could lift, close the doors and windows with wood, unless you have hurricane shutters, clean rain gutters and trim trees and shrubs. Also, if you live in the first or second floor of a high rise, you must to take refuge on floors between three and ten, residents who live above tenth floor should evacuate, as should people who live in mobile home trailers, and anyone living on a flood plain, near a river or highland waterway.
You shoul have a safe room. When natural disaster starts, stay away from the windows and glass stores, avoid using the phone and go to the lowest interior room. Take a pillow to protect your head. Monitor the situation, and don´t leave the safe place until the official reports say that it is ok to do.
Extreme caution, if you lose electricity, cut down you service until power is restaured, then check for dangerous wires, if you see any, call the power company. Leave the house immediatly if you smell gas. When you return home, don´t enter the house if has water around of it (in floods), you see loose power lines, or if you notice structural damage or smell gas. If some concerns you, wait for a building inspector or structural engineer.
Remember, berofe the natual disaster, fill your stores of water, like the bathtub to have extra supply on hand, unplug small appliances, sensitive electronics and turn off propane tanks.
